15 of the 400 richest people in the US are still young

Forbes has released its list of the 400 richest people in the United States (USA) in 2021. 15 young people or millennials under 40 from the list.
Some of these lists are ‘suddenly’ getting rich because of memes and crypto assets. For example, the youngest Sam Bankman-Fried (29) has amassed a fortune of US$22.5 billion thanks to the rapid growth of FTX, the crypto asset exchange he founded in Hong Kong two years ago.

Then there’s Evan Spiegel, founder of the Snapchat app. This 31-year-old man has $13.8 billion in assets. With three-quarters of the money, Bobby Murphy, 33, has become one of the 400 richest Americans thanks to Snapchat.

Murphy’s fortune has tripled since last year as the app’s stock price skyrocketed. Forbes notes that Snapchat’s head of technology has a net worth of US$15.2 billion.

Fred Ehrsam (33) was one of the co-founders of Coinbase Global in 2012. Despite leaving the company in 2017, Ehrsam still owns a 6 percent stake in Coinbase.

Ehrsam is also the co-founder of Paradigm, an investment firm with stakes in dozens of crypto companies, including Coinbase and FTX. In total, he has a net worth of US$3.5 billion.

Next up is Luke Walton, grandson of Sam Walton, founder of retail giant Walmart. After his father died in 2005, Luke inherited a third of his father’s estate and served as chairman of the Walton Family Foundation’s environmental program committee. Its assets are valued at US$17.2 billion.

Then there’s Baiju Bhatt (36), co-founder of commission-free trading app Robinhood Markets. Bhatt resigned in November 2020 and has an 8 percent stake in the company. Forbes estimates Bhatt’s fortune at $2.9 billion.

Although Mark Zuckerberg (37) has been on the list of the world’s 10 richest people for years, he is still one of the youngest billionaires in the world to date. Currently, his fortune is worth 134.5 billion US dollars thanks to Facebook Instagram, Whatsapp and others.

Also, the next list is occupied by Dustin Moskovitz (37) from Facebook. It owns 2 percent of Facebook and a third of Asana, an app that collaborates with management or corporate teams. They have assets valued at US$24.1 billion.

There’s also Coinbase boss Brian Armstrong (38). Armstrong, who entered the rich new list thanks to his crypto assets, registered a net worth of US$ 11.5 billion thanks to his 19 percent stake in Coinbase.

Let’s not forget that the Airbnb app helped take the pressure off the rich young. Co-founder Nathan Blecharczyk (38) made a quick fortune after Airbnb became a public company. They have assets worth 10 billion US dollars.

Scott Duncan, 38, along with his three brothers, took over the oil and gas family business, Enterprise Products Partners, in 2010. It currently has assets valued at US$6.2 billion.

Forbes selected R.J Scaringe (38) as one of this list, thanks to automotive company Rivian. The company has received $2.5 billion in funding this year from Amazon, Ford and T.Rowe Price. Scaringe has a net worth of US$3.4 billion.

There’s also a member of the Garcia family, the founder of Carnava, a used car trading platform. Ernest Garcia III (39) has a net worth of US$9.3 billion.

The only woman on this list is Lynsi Snyder, 39, the granddaughter of the founder of the In-N-Out Burger franchise.

Today, the franchise has stores in more than 100 locations. He was appointed head of the company in 2010 and currently has a net worth of US$4.2 billion.

Finally, Ben Silbermann (39) is one of the founders of the Pinterest app. He’s one of the new residents on this list after Pinterest’s stock price more than doubled last year. Silbermann has a net worth of US$3.3 billion.
