A Father’s Tale Haru Makes Autistic Children’s Dreams Come True at Arsenal Headquarters

Arsenal not only won the duel against Leeds United in the last 16 of the 2021/22 English League Cup. Gunners has also succeeded in fulfilling the dreams of fans with special needs.

Sometimes the father-daughter relationship is about ignoring the impossible. Struggle beyond the limits of their own abilities to make your little one’s dreams come true. It doesn’t matter how hard the challenges are. And sometimes a little luck can change everything.

Arsenal fan Dave couldn’t escape the struggle when he expressed his desire to watch his autistic son Gunners match live. Dave realized that the noise of the stadium and the cheering of the audience was not a pleasant place for his son.

But his son whined for him. His father was definitely worried about the situation he was about to face.

As reported by Metro.co.uk recently, Dave wrote while telling his story via Twitter @TheresYourDC, “I’m not sure he can leave because he has autism.”

With various thoughts, Dave finally dared. He was dying to take his son to watch Arsenal’s game against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium last Tuesday. At the time, the Gunners were struggling to beat the last 16 of the 2021/2022 English League Cup.

A Dream Almost Over
In Dave’s mind, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that his son will never forget. But he also realized that it would not be easy to pass the moment together.

Of course, it didn’t take long for Dave to feel the ‘pain’ of the boy.

“He was grappling with the screams of 50,000 people on the field, and that would have been exhausting. In the middle of the first half, I saw that he was already uncomfortable and we had to leave,” wrote Dave.

The two then left the stands and wanted to go home. However, the disappointment that fell on Dave and his son did not last long. Their steps were stopped when one of the female commissioners on duty asked why they were going home before the game was over.

“I wish I remembered the name of the blonde female butler,” Dave wrote.

“Then he contacted someone and asked me to wait a minute. As soon as we found out, we were directed to the club level,” Dave said.

Happy ending
Long story short, they were directed to the sensory room. This room was intentionally built by Arsenal at the Emirates to provide convenience to people with special sensory needs such as children with autism. In this room, they are served by another butler named Luke Howard. ”

“They had a sensory room that let us watch until the end. Luke Howard, the gentleman who ran the room, was great. So were everyone there and the waiters who helped make the night a great memory. Thanks Arsenal.

Arsenal’s sensory room has been around since 2017. This room is soundproofed with glass windows opening directly onto the site. With such a design, spectators with sensory impairments such as children with autism can watch the match without being disturbed by the crowd. This room provides a quiet space for fans and their families.

“We were thrilled to be able to help you and your son last night, Dave. It’s an honor for us. We are proud of our sensory space at Arsenal and Luke is delighted to meet you!” He wrote to Arsenal’s Twitter account in response to Dave’s tweet about his experiences.

A truly wonderful evening for Dave and his son. In addition to being able to watch the match to the end, Arsenal perfected their dreams by beating Leeds 2-0.
